Saint Florus: Bishop of Amisus

Saint Florus was an exceptional civil servant during the days of Emperors Jutus II, Tiberius and Maurice (565-602). He held the rank of patrician. Upon the death of his wife and children, he embraced the monastic life and withdrew to one of his estates. Later he became Bishop of Amisus in Pontus and proved a true disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ. He died in peace. He is commemorated in the Orthodox Church each year on 18th of December.
