Panayiotis Ermeidis was born into a wealthy family in Giresun in 1878. After completing high school in Giresun he studied law at universities in Constantinople and Paris. After completing his studies he returned to Giresun and began practicing law. In 1903 he married a teacher from Constantinople and together they had five children. Until his death, he worked as an advisor for the Ottoman Bank.
Ermeidis was a vocal supporter of an independent Pontic republic. As a result, in 1919, during a trip from Kassiope (today Keşap) to Giresun, he was murdered by Turks. His body was never found.
